Sheryl Olecheck

    Sheryl Olecheck has been consulting, instructing, and adjudicating dance and cheerleading teams at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels for over 30 years, winning eighteen National Championship titles. She is originally from Springfield, Virginia and relocated to Chapin in 2009.  Sheryl started her career working as a camp instructor for the National Dance Association.  She is a graduate of the Univ. of SC where she received a degree in nursing and was a member of the USC dance team, the Carolina Coquettes. She is the former owner of the award winning dance and cheerleading studio, Rhythm & Cheer, Inc.  Sheryl’s former students have appeared in Disney’s High School Musical, Glee, choreographed and performed in Trace Adkins videos, performed on Broadway, and danced for numerous awards shows.  Sheryl is a two-time recipient of the “Excellence in Dance Education” award issued by the Governor of Virginia.

    For 11 years, Sheryl served as the captain and choreographer of the NFL Washington Redskin Cheerleaders.  Her NFL choreography credits include two Super Bowls, the American Bowl in London, England, the Opening Day Ceremonies of the World Cup, USA, held at RFK stadium in Washington, DC, and the Redskin Cheerleader Variety Show “A Salute to America” dedicated to the service men, women, and families that was performed at military bases across the USA,  Europe, and the Middle East.  Sheryl was selected twice as the Washington Redskin Cheerleader representative to the NFL Pro Bowl Cheerleaders in Hawaii. She was also awarded the “Vince Lombardi Award” for her numerous years of volunteer mentoring with the inner city youth of Washington, DC, her “Read with Me” campaign for K-2nd graders, and her partnership with the FBI’s “Just Say No” campaign.   She has appeared on local, national, and international television and radio shows including interviews with Good Morning America, MTV, Talk Radio-Berlin, Germany, Broadcast House Live, The Regis and Kathy Lee Show, and Late Night with David Letterman.   Sheryl continues to be an active member of the Redskin Cheerleaders Alumni, the NFL Alumni, and the National Dance Team Coaches Association. 

    After moving to South Carolina, Sheryl started the Chapin Intermediate, Chapin Middle, and Chapin High School Dance Teams hoping to see dance teams become as prominent as they are in all other states across the U.S.  The Chapin dance teams are the reigning Capitol City Dance Team Grand Champions, Eastern Dance Association Grand National Champions, Dance Team Union Regional Champions, and the Disney World Contest of Champions National Champions in the Elementary, Middle School, and High School divisions.  Sheryl is married to Bud Olecheck and shares her love for coaching with her three daughters Brittany, Brianna, and Hayley.
